Dead Reckoning Part 1 will now release two days earlier on July 12, 2023, instead of July 14. Originally, Tom Cruise’s Mission: Impossible 7 and 8 were planned to film consecutively in 2021 and 2022, but they had to be put on hold due to the coronavirus.

Originally, the plan was to begin production on Mission Impossible 8 immediately after Mission: Impossible 7, filming the two movies consecutively.

Director Christopher McQuarrie explained to Empire that Mission Impossible 7 and 8 need to encompass the scope of the previous three films. “I proposed the idea of making two movies, and now I have to provide a justification for why it’s two movies.”
